CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOPS FOR SCHOOLS
The Story Room offers original story writing and poetry workshops to develop writing skills and unlock the magic of children’s creative minds. Our workshops aim to engage children of all abilities in the classroom in the joy of writing. We run either whole class or small group workshops, depending on your needs.
We have been providing workshops to children in London since 2013. Our love for what we do is communicated through our enthusiastic and energetic delivery of our workshops. Helena is a published poet and is currently working on a novel for young adults and Angels writes for young children and is a literary translator.
Our Workshops are aimed at primary school children and are tailored to your classroom’s needs. We are flexible so the length of the workshops can be determined by your school day and the year group we are working with.
Our Menu helps you choose the workshop that best matches the learning outcomes you would like your students to achieve. We are able to plan bespoke workshops that tie in with themes and subjects that you are currently studying with the children. Small group workshops are available on request, for children with dyslexia and/or dyspraxia. Please click here to view the menu.
Thank you so much for coming to our school! The children loved it and are very excited about sharing their stories in assembly this week. It truly was exactly what I hoped for so thank you again. Clapham Manor Primary School
The Story Room shows great understanding of the curriculum. Our students enjoyed the workshops very much. They brought creative writing to life resulting in the students developing a love of story writing. Headteacher, The Phoenix Academy, Edmonton.
The Story Room came to our school to do a creative writing workshop with a class of 20 boys and 10 girls (!) The workshop really developed the children’s creative writing skills. They examined poetry and wrote their own fantastic poems. The children were really inspired by the exciting approach and encouraging attitude. Every child in the class worked hard to produce a piece of work that they could be proud of. Year 5 teacher St. Michael’s School, Highgate.
The Story Room creates a wonderfully creative space for children to be inspired, to learn ways to make their writing more engaging and to have fun with their ideas. In the course of a two hour workshop I have seen even the most reluctant young writers come out of their shells to produce some of the wittiest, funniest and most devilish pieces of creative writing I have ever seen. Allan Boroughs, Author of ‘Ironheart’ and ‘Bloodstone’ (Macmillan Children’s Books)
‘ The best thing about The Story Room is that it’s so enjoyable you don’t even realise you’re working!’ (Year 6 pupil)
