The Workshops: During Young Writers’ Club’s workshops our youngest writers will take their first steps into creative writing – inspired by a variety of resources, including music, visual aids and stories that we will read them.

WRITING CLUB for years 3, 4 and 5

Time: 2pm to 4pm

The Workshops: These sessions are on the first Saturday and the second Saturday of each month from 2pm to 4pm The workshops are bookable in advance but please note that your child does not have to commit to coming to every session.

Each Saturday we write stories and poems in line with the theme of the day!  We introduce the children to different styles of  literature during each session,  including classic texts, poetry and contemporary children’s books. We have fun exploring our imaginations and getting the children’s ideas down on paper.

How many in group? A maximum of 10 children.

CLUB for years 6, 7 , 8 and 9

Time: 3.30pm to 5.00pm

The workshops are for children who enjoy writing and want to improve their writing skills in a fun and relaxed environment. It is an opportunity for them to belong to a small community of young writers and to receive feedback on their writing. Each session is themed and we look at a variety of styles and genres of writing, so that there is something to appeal to all tastes.

Location: Friends House, 59 Church Hill, London N21 1LE (EXCEPT OUR NOVEMBER DATE which is in Oakwood Library Bramley Road, London N14 4XA)

Course for years 7 ,8, 9, 10, 11

Time: 7pm to 8.30pm

The Course: During the course we look at all aspects of writing. Your young writer will be guided through different genres and styles of writing, aiding them to find their own voice and style. We explore literature – modern and classic – and explore the wealth of writing that we are so fortunate to have access to.  During each session your child will write according to the theme of the day and will received feedback on their written pieces.

Who is in charge? The course is run by Allan Boroughs (author of Ironheart and Bloodstone – Macmillan) and Helena  who both have considerable experience of writing with teenagers and who are passionate about writing and the benefits that it brings.

Location: Southgate Leisure Centre, Winchmore Hill Road, London N14

Fee: £100.00 for 4 sessions (priority is given to block bookings)  or £30.00 for each individual date booked.
