11-plus mocks – a month by month plan

Dear Parents,
This is the time of year that you might be thinking of mocks for your child.
I work with a team of experts in this field and this week we launch our new-look Succeed website which now includes online mocks as well as the physical mocks that we have provided for  years now.
Many of you have asked for a plan for the months ahead. Here is a suggested plan, that you can of course deviate from. There is no obligation at all.  The online mocks should be used as a learning tool. When your child completes each mock, you receive your results and a full explanation of each answer. In addition to that,  you receive a bandwidth of results and the ‘grading’ for that result e.g. what result would be considered outstanding or average etc., based on our collective years of experience running mocks and tutoring for the 11-plus.
A SUGGESTED PLAN
  • EASTER HOLIDAYS – Start with the free mocks on the Succeed 11Plus site . Do not rush through them. Take each mock on a separate day so that it gives you and your child time to work through the answers and for your child to learn from their mistakes.
  • Enrol for the Story Room Easter Holiday online creative writing workshops on 8th and 9th April 2.00pm to 3.30pm
  • Sunday 21st April  – take the in person  Succeed mock (Ashmole School, London N14). This will help your child understand the timings for their mocks and act as an indication of where they most need help in the coming months.
  • May start working through the Succeed online mocks – Take bundle one Again, take each mock on a separate day so that it gives you time to work through the answers and for your child to learn from their mistakes.
  • 19th May – take the in-person Succeed mock (Ashmole School). You should aim for an improvement from the last mock result as your child becomes more accustomed to exam settings and timings.
  • June – take bundle two of the online mocks. Always taking each mock on a separate day.
  • July  – take bundle three of the online mocks.
  • 14th July – take the in-person  Succeed mock (Ashmole School). Your child should now be more confident with the exam process.
  • Monday 15th July to Friday 19th July enrol your child onto WEEK ONE revision course at Ashmole School N14 (provided your child is on school holidays that week).
  • Monday 29th July to Friday 2nd August enrol your child onto WEEK TWO revision course at Ashmole School N14 (this is different from week one)
  • August-September  take bundle four and five of the online mocks.
  • 18th August – take the in-person Succeed mock (Ashmole School). This mock should be their last one before their exams so that they have time to look back at their errors and  revise and learn from them.
With regards to the in-person mock dates, you choose two papers per mock. So for example in April you might like to choose VR and English, and in May Standard format Maths and English.Remember that not only do Succeed mark your English Creative writing piece but we also provide a suggested plan so that your child can attempt that piece of writing again at home. Our exams are very close to the format and difficulty of the local schools your child will be sitting.

Please ask us (admin@succeed11plus.co.uk) if you have any questions, but could I ask you to look for the answer in the website first as we believe it will answers all your questions .
Wishing you all the best,
Helena Steel
