11-plus English Course
SATURDAY COURSE – Comprehension, VR and Writing for 11-Plus
These workshops are aimed at pupils in Year 5 and 6 ONLY who are preparing for their 11-plus English entrance examinations into secondary grammar and independent schools. In each session we will study comprehension skills and creative writing for the 11 plus exams, focusing on maximising marks and getting through the paper in time. We will observe the children’s development throughout and each child will be given an appraisal at the end of the course.
At the Story Room we understand the pressures of the 11 plus exams, so although the workshops will not be in the usual format of our the holiday and Saturday workshops, we aim for our workshops to be run in a relaxed environment for the children.

Thank you for your hard work throughout the 11-plus course. My son progressed well throughout the course and found all the handouts and exercises very useful. The feedback given at the end was invaluable to us as parents. (G.L.)
My son has always enjoyed reading and creative writing but found11+ English exam papers extremely daunting and did not know where to begin. I’m so very pleased we found Helena because she instilled the confidence and focus into him that he needed. We were overjoyed when he achieved an extremely high rank in the entrance exam of Dame Alice Owen’s, a result which would not have been possible without Helena’s magic. (T.S)
Helena is an excellent and dedicated tutor, she got along very well with my daughter. With Helena’s help, my daughter managed to gain a place at Latymer, Dame Alice Owen’s School and her dream school, Henrietta Barnet. Thank you for your hard work. (R.Q.)
