Online Holiday Workshops

At The Story Room we find treasures in the world around us but especially in words. Treasures sparkle and shine and sometimes have extraordinary value just like words, so let’s open up the treasure chest of our minds digging deep for the best words to use in our stories and poems.

Tuesday 28th May  – What wondrous things

Think about Howard Carter when he discovered Tutankhamun’s tomb or Basil Brown when he discovered Sutton Hoo.  Imagine how determined they must have been to find the treasure and that first flush of feeling when they see the first item. We will bottle some of this passion and go on our own extraordinary adventures, describing each step of the way. Where will your adventure take you?

Wednesday 29th May – Treasures

We are surrounded by treasures, be it the sap in a tree or a star in the sky, we only have to step out of our houses find something remarkable to look at. Inspired by the world around us, we will be on a hunt for treasures to include in our surprising poetry.

Thursday 30th May  – One man’s junk…

Today we will have fun with the idiom ‘one man’s junk is another man’s treasure’ to create stories.
