Autumn Noises

Dear Story Room kids,

Autumn is upon us! Walks in the local area are so much more interesting in Autumn, especially as you walk through the acorns, conkers and dead leaves that have fallen to the ground. As you walk to school or in your local park think about all the ONOMATOPOEIAS that you can think of to describe the sounds that your footsteps are making as you walk, skip, run (or roll!) through the leaves and acorns.

An ONOMATOPOEIA is a word that imitates the sound it is describing e.g. click, clatter, buzz, oink etc.

For more examples and a catchy tune to help you remember what an Onomatopoeia is visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1b5kCvVBo8 .
