Specialist Eye Care for Children with Reading Difficulties

Dear friends,

I wanted to reach out to you and inform you of the new clinic my wife and I have just launched in Hertford.

I am an Optometrist with extra qualifications as an independent prescriber but also a passion and interest in children’s vision and how it develops in early school years.

Ofthalmos is a private clinic, mainly set up to help children with reading difficulties.

I screen children as young as Year 3, for Dyslexia, with an innovative and unique in the UK eye tracking system called eyeRadar. The sight test provided with the initial consultation looks at all the developmental parameters of their vision, including binocular stability and accommodation facility – often ignored/missed during a regular sight test – which often cause difficulties with reading and writing.

In combination, the assessment provides a variety of solutions (glasses, training glasses, eye exercises, coloured overlays for pattern glare, report/advice to the school SENCo or referral for a formal diagnosis of Dyslexia, if the tracking test proves positive).

The aim is to help each child reach their full potential.

Thank you,
