Summer Creative Writing (and Art) Workshops

WEEK ONE: CHILDHOOD

Monday 10th, Tuesday 11th, Wednesday 12th, Thursday 13th AUGUST

“Childhood,” said English poet John Betjeman, “is measured out by sounds and smells and sights, before the dark hour of reason grows.”

This summer through poetry and prose we will be celebrating this precious time in a child’s life, from the books they read – to the games they play, there is inspiration for great stories and poetry lurking everywhere you look.

Each day your child will delve into their bottomless imaginations fishing out the stories and poems that are seeded there. Will shadows be monsters, clouds be lost worlds?  Will they jump into a hidden world and discover new lands? Or simply save the world during their lunch break?.

WEEK TWO: AN ENGLISH HOLIDAY

Monday 24th, Tuesday 25th, Wednesday 26th, Thursday 27th AUGUST

“What other country…could possibly have come up with place names like Tooting Bec and Farleigh Wallop, or a game like cricket that goes on for three days and never seems to start?”

– Bill Bryson, Notes From A Small Island.

This week let’s go on a journey around England together, looking at its wealth of authors, composers, inventors and poets that have inspired people all over the world in their creations.

So pack your bags and your notebooks so we can have some story writing fun!
