Writing a letter to Santa is something that most children cannot wait to do, so it is a good time of year to get reluctant writers to sit down and write! Encourage your child to write a longer letter this year as Santa really appreciates detailed handwritten letters as your child gets older. The letter does not have to be limited to a list of things that your child wants to receive.
Here are some ideas of what your child could include:
- a thank you for last years presents (Santa really likes this).
- examples of how your child has been a good girl or a good boy this year.
- a description of the item(s) that your child would like to receive.
- if your child is unsure about what they would like to receive then they could write a short piece about themselves including their interests, activities and hobbies to help Santa know what to give them. Santa loves giving surprises.
- what your child will leave Santa and the reindeers to eat and where.
- how excited your child is about Christmas.
- which room the tree is in, so he knows where to leave the presents (he finds this really helpful).
- a big thank you for battling the weather to come and deliver the presents.
It’s a good time of the year to squeeze a little extra out of the reluctant writer.
