‘Smile! Mona Lisa. Smile! Why won’t you smile?’ cried Leonardo Da Vinci.
It was late afternoon in Italy and Leonardo Da Vinci was adding the finishing touches to his masterpiece, The Mona Lisa.
‘I won’t smile because there is nothing to smile about, there is nothing funny!’ replied Mona Lisa in her rich Italian accent, she was clearly frustrated with Leonardo. He was about to say, no wonder they call you Mona but bit his tongue knowing what she’d do if he did. Da Vinci walked over to his work table and sat down with a deep, despairing sigh. If only he had a clown or something funny his painting would be finished in no time.
‘Leonardo! Leonardo!’ shrieked Mona Lisa.
‘Here we go again.’ Muttered Leonardo. As soon as he turned around an obese, ginger cat lumbered across the room and jumped onto the lap of Mona Lisa. She couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
‘Keep that smile, don’t move!’ shouted Leonardo Da Vinci as he frantically ran across the room grabbing his pots of paint and brushes.
