In our workshops on Thursday 20th February each child wrote a poem about clouds. We then agreed on the best line from each poem (which was a difficult task) and made them into a team poem. We are really proud of the result and of how hard the children worked to write their poems.
Team poem from children aged 8-9 years
CLOUDS
Clouds are white cushions where birds take flight
They are sponges mixed up and turned grey
and swans swimming across the pond
They are puffs of smoke from a steam train
and dark grey angry horses ready to stampeed.
The Cloud is a polar bear, when it gets angry it makes thunder
When the Cloud grows really old and dies, the snow is parts of the cloud that are falling apart.
The clouds are mashed potatoes squashed into bits
…. and yummy candyfloss
When people eat Marshmallows the clouds get angry.
Clouds are Clouds.
Team Poem – Children aged 10-11 years
CLOUDS
The Dark hippo fills the muddy sky
As it rains the hippos moan
They are dark and mysterius, roaring viciously.
Clouds are angry wolves growling in the sky,
creatures leaping across the sky, searching for prey
when they are happy they gallop past the sun, like a flock of white fluffy sheep
Clouds are mean when the sun is out
They envy the sun and team up to cover it up
When the clouds go upset they cried and wept
Clouds are snakes twisting this way and that
They are rips on a blue sheet of paper
and a jigsaw unfinished by the birds
They are castles moulded from cotton wool
and candyfloss clunks hanging from high shelves
Clouds can be anything.
