The Woman-Eating Cat by Mary-Ellen Dyson

This hilarious poem, by Mary-Ellen Dyson aged 7,  was inspired by Russian artist  Svetlana Petrova’s picture of American Gothic and the Fat Cat (FATCATART.RU)

There was a man and his wife

who had a solemn life.

One day there was a cat,

he was really fat.

He came into their garden.

He wasn’t going to get a pardon.

The man and his wife tried to run,

but they didn’t have fun.

For the cat ate the man’s wife,

which destroyed her life.

So the man gave him a burger

for this unhappy murder.

So the cat left forever,

and then the man worried never.
