In an attempt to maintain a sense of normality for our Story Room children, we are running all our sessions on Zoom. We know writing is good for them at this difficult time and we are determined to keep the passion for writing alive in them. It’s been a great week!
In our teens’ class yesterday we ran a session over Zoom on Nonsense Poetry. We wanted something light that would lift the children’s spirits but something that requires skill and thought. The session went exceptionally well with the children interacting with each other and with me in their normal quirky and funny way. It was the highlight of a difficult week. We managed to play a word game together – no disasters – and the writing was really, really good. We even had one child’s pet dog joining in… Here is a sample of the poems that were written for one of our nonsense poetry exercises. We hope they make you laugh like they did us and that you are in awe of the children’s talent as I am!
