Harper Drew, Talent Show Takeover

BOOK CLUB – OCTOBER 2022

Dear Kathy Weeks,

We recently read Harper Drew, Talent Show Takeover in our Book Club for children in years 4 to 6. They all really enjoyed it and here are some of the things they had to say about it:

I am writing to tell you how amazing the new book was for me. I really enjoyed the book and it is one of my favourite books. My favourite part in the book was when Pom Pom was ‘busy doing other business” and Maisie was dancing around Pom Pom. It made me laugh out loud. (Siena)

My favourite character was Troy because he I liked it when he was obsessed with his hair. Troy is like me and Harper Drew is like my sister.  I would like to read the other books in the series and be a best-selling author. (Gurnaam)

My favourite part was on 12th October when Troy was wearing a toilet seat around his neck as using it as a plate. This part made me laugh out loud. (Florence)

I would like to draw like Aleksei Bitskoff and someday write a diary entry. Please could  you to write more Harper Drew books? Thank you for writing these book. I am going to give my best friend a copy of Harper Drew.  (Anaiya)

I really enjoyed the book and want to read more of your books. Harper Drew and Priya were my favourite characters. I would like to have a friend like Priya. (Khan-My)

I also really liked, the Drew Dial rating, the bit where someone vomited in a coffin and that the mum snake-proofed herself.

I think this book would be good for children aged 9-10. I would give this book 3/5  stars.  (Jayden)

My favourite character is Harper Drew’s mum. She was funny especially on the 8th October when Harper’s Dad puts her earrings  in the grouting of the tiles in the bathroom. I also like Priya’s Mum and Dad. The part where Priya’s mum breaks both her arms and her Dad has to do the housework makes me laugh each time. My favourite line was ‘Yash, when you have finished burning the house down, can you come and help me get my socks on?’  I would give it 4.5 out of 5 as the Drew Dial rate was confusing for me.  (Aarya)

Thank you for writing the book and the series. Our Book Club readers will be reading more!

Best wishes,

The Story Room Book Club
