Dear Young Writers
Do you like creative writing and want to write in a friendly and relaxed environment?
Do you find it hard to know where to start?
Do you want to feel more confident about your writing ability?
Do you want feedback on your writing?
Or Do you simply want to try something new?
If you answered YES to one or more of these questions then these workshops are for you!

The workshops are run by Allan Boroughs (author of Ironheart and Bloodstone – Macmillan) and Helena Steel who both have experience of writing with teenagers and are passionate about writing and the benefits that it brings.
What will I achieve?
During the workshops we will explore different aspects of writing.
Session 1: Story inspiration – where to start.
Session 2: Character and plot development
Session 3: Creating your story world
Session 4: Editing the finished product!
Over the course of the four evenings our aim is that the young writers develop the confidence to revise and edit their own work and the ability to give constructive feedback to others. Each participant will be working towards a finished piece of work. They will be encouraged to read their work out in the session and will receive 1-2-1 coaching time over the course of the 4 weeks,
Who is the course for?
The course is aimed at students in years 7, 8, 9 and 10 of secondary school.
We welcome both enthusiastic and reluctant writers.
The Story Room is dyslexia and dyspraxia friendly, so if you need a scribe in the session, please let us know in advance. We are able to provide one scribe per session.
